Bob and Brad are big players in the physical therapy world. They are perhaps best known for their educational YouTube channel, which has since blossomed into a fully-fledged business filled with physical therapy programs and excellent massage products. The UNI Mini massage gun is no exception. Their latest creation is designed for travel and on-the-go deep tissue relief, and for its price and effectiveness, it’s hard to beat.  

The Bottom Line

The Bob and Brad UNI Mini massage gun is clearly intended as a portable massage gun – one you can carry onto public transport, an airplane or even just to work. Therefore, the biggest question has to be: Does the massage gun provide effective on-the-go relief like the Booster Mini Massage gun?

In my experience using the product, the answer is a resounding yes. The percussion massage is deep and effective, and the different heads allow you to customize your massage experience. It is a lightweight product that even comes with a carry case for added protection and convenience. 

Overall, if you’re looking for a portable and powerful massage gun, the Bob and Brad Massage Gun is in the upper echelon of the options available. It’s simple, effective and is an all-round sleek product.

What I Liked

• It goes anywhere. The Bob and Brad UNI Mini’s portability is a big deal. At 570 g, I love how easy it is to carry around in a backpack – it would likely even fit in a bumbag, purse or a really loose pocket. 
• It’s quiet for a mini massage gun. Naturally, for a gun to effectively be portable it can’t be sloppy. There’s not much use for a compact massage gun that’s extremely loud and vibrates all over the place. Luckily, the UNI mini doesn’t suffer from this issue and is fairly quiet – although I’m not sure you should be whipping it out at the cinemas.
• Fast and convenient charging. I am also a fan of the USB-C charging feature, which allows me to charge the device using my phone adapter (or even my Nintendo Switch wall charger!).

Overall, I found the UNI Mini to be a great massage gun for amateur athletes or anyone who needs quick relief and relaxation on the move. It’s powerful yet quiet, and the ergonomic design ensures maximum comfort during use.

What I Didn’t Like

The Bob and Brad UNI Mini massage gun is a great tool for muscle relief while in transit, there are a few things I didn’t love about it. 

• Battery life is a little hit or miss. Firstly, the battery life wasn’t as long as I would have liked. While it’s compact and easy to carry around, I had to recharge it quite frequently, which was a bit of a hassle. It comes with a solid 2,500 mAh battery, but because most users will rely on using it away from home, it isn’t a natural “okay I can just charge it” massage gun. Future models will hopefully continue improving in this area, and for now, the battery will be good enough for most users. It’s just not great.
• Not a heap of speed options to choose from. Additionally, I would have preferred if there were a few more speed levels to choose from. While the gun is strong enough for its size, it would have been more effective if I could have adjusted the intensity. There are still five speeds available though, which is nothing to scoff at.

None of these are dealbreakers though, and compromises in performance and versatility are expected given the gun’s compact stature.

Who Is It Geared Towards?

The Bob and Brad UNI Mini massage gun is quite effective for those just looking for a basic, portable muscle massage gun. It provides solid relief from tension and pain, can reach deep tissues and should be powerful enough for most amateur athletes (whether you lift weights, run, play a sport or so on).

This product is specifically geared toward portability, so it is perhaps best suited to those who are often travelling for work, or generally on the road. Muscle soreness doesn’t always come from activity – inactivity can be a huge culprit too. It makes the UNI Mini an awesome accomplice for comfort. long-haul plane flight

For more clinical muscle issues, the UNI Mini may not be a perfect solution. It’s still excellent for on-the-go requirements, but for medical uses, you should consider another, more versatile and powerful product recommended by your massage therapist or GP.

One of the most impressive things about the UNI Mini is the contrast between its size and power. With maximum speeds of up to 3,000 rpm and a vibration amplitude of 10mm, the UNI Mini is capable of breaking up knots and relaxing tight muscles, even in hard-to-reach areas. 

At just 14.5cm L x 8.6cm W x 4.6cm H and weighing in at 570 grams, this tiny massage gun can be easily tucked into a carry-on, purse, or backpack, making it the perfect workout partner for those who are always on the move.

All that said, I think it’s worth pointing out that it isn’t as tiny as some of the marketing may make you think. In fairness, it’s quite compact and I’m not sure how much smaller you could get before it actually becomes so powerless it isn’t effective. Perhaps this is as small as massage guns can get and still be useful. Either way, it’s probably not going to fit in your tight jeans pocket. 

Don’t get me wrong though – at less than half a kilogram, it’s super lightweight and one of the smallest massage guns I’ve personally come across.

Innovative brushless motor

The UNI Mini features a proprietary brushless motor that sets it apart from other portable massage guns on the market. This motor strikes a perfect balance between power and size, making it a convenient option for getting relief on the go. The motor is designed to deliver maximum power without sacrificing portability, making it a great option for athletes who need deep tissue massage and powerful pain relief when they’re out and about.

Convenient USB-C charging

Another great feature of the UNI Mini is its USB-C charging capability. This massage gun can be charged by USB-C with the same cables you’d use to charge an Android smartphone. This makes it incredibly convenient to charge, whether you’re at home or on the go. 

With a full charge, the UNI Mini can provide up to three hours of use, depending on the intensity level. Some users (myself included) have found it doesn’t quite live up to this battery life, but it’s still quite solid.

Adjustable intensity speeds

The UNI Mini offers five adjustable speeds (1,800, 2,100, 2,400, 2,700, or 3,000 percussions per minute), making it a relatively versatile tool for different types of muscle groups. The adjustable intensity means you can customise your massage experience to suit your needs, whether you need to get deep in there or just want a gentler experience.

Five massage heads

It’s worth pointing out that the range of massage heads isn’t as useful unless you plan to carry the product around in its case. The case is quite compact and will fit in most backpacks, tote bags and so on, but may not be quite as effective for smaller purses and certainly not pockets.

Value for Money

The UNI Mini massage gun isn’t the most powerful, feature-laden massage gun on the market. Its price tag is about what you’d expect it to be – hovering around the AUD $200 mark. 

That said, the gun presents excellent value for money given its portability. Although the actual gun itself isn’t hugely versatile, its potential applications are almost endless given how small and easy to transport it is. 

What You Get In The Box

The Bob and Brad Mini Massage gun is an excellent package. 

For this price, there aren’t too many other massage guns that do it better. Everything comes in a nice cardboard box, which houses the protective case. This is a nice change up from some competitors who shove things into that cheap, bendy black plastic that offers basically no safety during postage.

Inside the case, we have all the basics – the gun itself, an instruction manual, the five heads and a charging cable. The massage gun came fully charged for me so I could immediately test it out, but some reviews have mentioned that this isn’t always the case.

Overall, the unboxing experience for the Bob and Brad UNI Mini is about as good as it gets for $200. 

What’s It Like Using It?

To be honest, using the Bob & Brad Mini massage gun is much like using any other mid-tier massage gun – but with one (game-changing) difference:

It’s just so portable.

Being able to take the massage gun basically anywhere without it weighing me down is a lifesaver. I can actually put it in my gym bag and not feel like I’m transporting a boulder to and from the fitness centre. I haven’t used it for this purpose yet, but I’m really excited to give it a try on a plane, as I can just imagine it will provide much-needed relief as my legs get more and more restless throughout the flight.

It’s also an added bonus that I’m an Android user, as I can simply swap out my phone with the massage gun at any of the various USB-C charging points I have set up around the house. For an already-convenient product, this is the icing on the cake.

The massage itself isn’t anything crazy. It’s powerful enough to get the job done for most basic muscle tightness or issues, but I probably wouldn’t recommend it for anything super serious. 

The whole appeal of the UNI Mini massage gun is its portability, and it truly is excellent in this regard. Like I said earlier in the review, it’s not tiny – but it should easily fit in jacket and tracksuit pockets, for context.
